It's been hard to see loved ones who are unable or unwilling to grasp the creeping authoritarianism, resurgent white supremacy and devastating science denialism of the past four years. That's what "Song for Discouraged Liberals" is about.
From the White House to our police departments, we need leaders who can show basic decency, empathy and logic. All of our proceeds from this song on Bandcamp through the November 3 election day will be donated to Fair Fight Action, a nonprofit fighting voter suppression of people of color and young people in our country.
lyrics
Spring begins like an awkward hymn
There's something wrong with me
So take my hand like we've got a plan
Like the cities won't be swallowed by the seas
Pray they're the last ones in
On the wings of their sins and their lies
On the phone with my mom back home
She asks what could she've done
But mom this song's an inherent one
We're all just on the run
So pray they're the last ones in
On the wings of their sins and their lies
The fools are at our windows
The adults are out to lunch
We waited through the summer
But the polls wouldn't budge
And life won't give you back
All the time that you've given up
So get up out of bed
Pretend to give a fuck
Pray they're the last ones in
On the wings of their sins and their lies
